What is a neuromodulator?

Our office offers neuromodulators for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement. Neuromodulators are injections of a neurotoxin called botulinum. The most famous and original brand is called Botox. Other FDA-approved brands include Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau. We use Jeuveau which is near identical to the original.

What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is the newest form of botulinum toxin that is most comparable to traditional Botox. It has the same molecular structure, is dosed similarly, and carries a similar duration of effect.

Where does Jeuveau work?

The primary areas that can be addressed are the forehead, the area between the eyebrows or the “11s”, and the crow’s feet. It can also be used to soften the jawline, smooth out bands in the neck, and even reduce wrinkling around the nose.

How long does Jeuveau last?

Generally, the treatment lasts ~3 months and can be repeated once the effects have started to wear off. Patients are often concerned that once you are treated, you have to keep doing it in order to maintain results. This is not entirely true. Once it wears off you will likely want to do it again but you do not need to.

What is Jeuveau treatment like?

We always start with a conservative amount your first time getting the injection, as you can always add more. Generally speaking, it takes ~72 hours to see the full results. Though bruising can occur, a slow and delicate injection technique as well as avoiding alcohol and exercise the day of treatment minimize these effects.

Does Jeuveau hurt?

We use the smallest possible needle to perform injections and typically do not use any numbing cream for Botox as an application of ice before and after the injection helps relieve any residual pain. By utilizing the latest injection techniques and talking you through the process, we are able to provide an extremely comfortable experience. 154
