What is Botox?
Botox helps with wrinkles that form as a result of facial movement (anything involved with facial expression). These wrinkles form in a direction opposite of muscle movement, which occurs after repetitive motion causes a little crease in the skin over time. Botox works by paralyzing that muscle.
How long does Botox last?
Botox takes 3-7 days to start working and then lasts up to 3 months.
Is it preventative?
Botox is preventative in that the action of paralyzing the muscle means less opportunity for the skin crease to form. If you use Botox for 3 years, that’s three years of not having your skin get exposed to wrinkle memory.
Do you have to keep doing it?
No. If you don’t like it, it’s not worth the cost, or you simply don’t do it, nothing will happen. It is not addictive in any way, other than you might like the result and want to keep doing it.
BONUS: Where can I use Botox?
Its commonly used to treat the wrinkles between your eyebrows (11’s), the wrinkles outside your eyes (crow’s feet), and the forehead, but it can also be used on basically any wrinkle that forms when you move your face. You can also use it on the muscle on your jaw to slim your jawline.
